It has added carbon/graphite for strength and fill which is compressed to a 1/8" thick gasket.

This is the flat low restriction "Race Style" exhaust port gasket and is "Leak Proof".
These exhaust gaskets are a flat-woven stainless steel design that does not compress into the exhaust port, improving flow out of the head into the exhaust header pipe.
These are also designed to work with the new spherical exhaust port.
